Vassar College invites applications for the position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. This is a benefit-eligible, ten-month, non-tenure-track position. The successful candidate will assist the head coach in all aspects of a competitive Division III basketball program with additional duties in the area of facilities. Duties for basketball include assisting with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, on-court instruction for practices, player development, academic monitoring, game strategies and competitive coaching, video exchange and participation in fund raising activities for the program. Responsibilities for facilities include desk supervision with oversight of the Athletics & Fitness Complex (AFC), which includes the opening and closing of the AFC. Assisting with the oversight and training of student-workers for the AFC, pre-game set-up and clean-up for home athletics contests, game site management, laundry and equipment oversight for the entire athletics program, and other additional duties as assigned by the head coach and Director of Athletics & PE. Some weekend, evening and holiday hours are required. The individual will report to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and the Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities.
Vassar College Athletics programs are conducted in compliance with policies, procedures and regulations of Vassar College, the NCAA and the Liberty League.
A Bachelor’s degree is required and coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred. Knowledge and compliance with NCAA and league rules and regulations are required. Certification in CPR, AED and First Aid is necessary but can be obtained through Vassar College as needed. A valid drivers license and successful result of a background check are mandatory.
